Mike Carruthers:

Feeling a little stressed out? Try eating some strawberries.

Dr. Frank Lawlis:

Especially if you eat the strawberries with the stems. That package of the leaves and the stems creates an enormous kind of stress relief.

You will feel a major relief in your stress in about five strawberries. And almonds - almonds especially are important for when you are feeling stress - insecure.

And in the moment, when you're stressed out your sense of smell can be a big help.

For example, if you take peppermint or some very strong novel smell (eucalyptus is  a very favorite one and so is clove) just close your eyes and just fill your sinuses with the smell. What the smell will do (we know this from neurological factors) will immediately drown out all other emotions that are going on for the time being.

Which gives you time to reassess your stressful situation. Now I'm always a little skeptical about these kitchen cures for problems but Dr. Lawlis says...

This is all documented. I'm a scientist at heart, all these have been tried. All these things that i've mentioned have not only scientific evidence but clincal evidence as well.
