Mike Carruthers:
It’s sometimes hard to get motivated to achieve a goal even if you think you really want it.

Bob Prentiss:
Motivating yourself is a skill and once you learn that skill and it’s an easy skill then you can motivate yourself then you can make those dreams come true.

Bob Prentiss, author of the book iMotivateMe, says motivation comes as the result of having confidence.

If you’re not confident that you’re able to make those dreams come true you will not be motivated to do the work. Why would you be? You’re not going to succeed I’m not going to even bother trying. But once you learn that you’re capable of doing it the motivation automatically rises you’re not going to be able to control it.

Sometimes goals just aren’t specific enough. They’re too vague so you don’t know what to do.

So I think so much of it is just to figure out what exactly do you want and write it down. And then the next step is to write down how do I get there - you see that’s not a difficult task.

Motivation is not a constant if you’re not careful it tends to fade away.

One of the things about motivation is when you start a new project it seems to have inherent motivation so you’ll start but then to consistently do it is difficult.

When people have trouble reaching their goals and dreams the problem is usually not the dreams.

I think most people have dreams that are quite realistic. For a lot of us it’s just skills we can acquire skills.
