Mike Carruthers:
In order to live a healthy lifestyle we often think we have to make this big huge decision to change how we live.

Dr. Ross Walker:
What I suggest is that instead of seeing life as making the big decision to be healthy I think we have to make 30ty, 40ty, 50ty small decisions every day.

Decisions like a walk up the stairs rather than take the lift or the escalator, I won’t yell at that fool who’s just cut in front of me in the traffic, I won’t have that extra glass of wine with my meal – the small decisions we make every day.

In general Dr. Walker says there are 5 things you need to do to stay healthy.

Which is #1 keep down that belly fat, #2 have no addictions so you can’t be healthy and smoke. #3 good quality eating and less of it, #4 3-5 hours every week of good quality exercise and #5 the best drug on the planet which is something called happiness, peace and contentment – those things together reduce your risk for all diseases by 70%.

Today we often believe that taking medication sort of armor plates us against disease.

So Lipitor is the biggest selling drug in the world and Lipitor is a superb drug to lower your cholesterol but there’s up to a 40% side effect rate. And a lot of people now are taking Lipitor and going off to a restaurant and thinking well I can eat what I like because I’m on Lipitor and that’s just is not medical sound advice.
