Aaron LaPedis, author of the book The Garage Sale Millionaire, says many of us have old record players and stereo equipment laying around.
A lot of people think stereo equipment is junk. Well if you have stereo equipment that has those tubes in them, some of it is highly sought after.
A little research on the internet can help you determine the value of your items but then how do you sell it?
You garage sale is the best way to get rid of a lot of things that are priced between a dollar and a hundred dollars if it really takes somebody walking by to really want it. If you need more money then it’s Craig’s List. If it’s small and valuable then it’s eBay.
Aaron says you have to do the research because some things you have you think might be valuable may not be.
Like furs. Some people have furs that were given to them from their parents. Well that is very hard - to sell furs. Old newspapers. Many people have kept a newspaper of the landing on the moon. Well so do a million other people. Family Bibles. Everybody says, “My family bible is 200 years old…” Unless your family is famous that bible is only worth something to you.
