You hear a lot about people making good money buying and selling stuff on eBay and it turns out a lot of it is just recycled. Listen to this…

40% of everything bought on eBay is resold on eBay.
 

Aaron LaPedis, author of the book The Garage Sale Millionaire, says 40% of everything bought on eBay is resold on eBay.

And I was doing that on eBay all the time. People did not know what they had, they were misspelling it, they put on the wrong description, the pictures were bad and I basically swooped on in I bought it repackaged it and I made money on it.

And this is happening more and more because who don’t normally sell items on eBay are being forced to and they don’t know what they’re doing so they list them poorly.

You know with the economy the way it is I think more and more people are going to need money that had money very recently. And then are going to start to sell a lot of great possessions either in online auctions, on eBay, estate sales.

If you do sell items on eBay Aaron says timing is everything.

The best time to sell anything is from Thanksgiving to a week before Christmas. You’ll get your highest amount of money. The worst time is January is because people have credit card overload. August is a very, very slow time people are vacationing so that’s another bad time.
