Mike Carruthers:
Silently or out loud we all talk to ourselves and often we’re not saying particularly nice things.

Dr. Larry Markson:
Most people I have found put themselves down or they give dominion over what they think to other people. I call it MFTP – Their mothers, fathers, all their teachers, peer pressure.

Dr. Larry Markson

Dr. Larry Markson, author of the book Talking To Yourself Is Not Crazy, says it’s easy to let negative thoughts and worry overtake your thinking unless you consciously fight back.

Your beliefs create your realities. So in my world the things you think about, the action steps you take create a feeling. And that feeling attracts into your life or repels from your life the people, places, things, situations and events that make your life good or bad.

So to keep your mind and energy focused on what’s important you need to have specific goals and you need to write them down.

The next thing is the visualization, picturing – the mind thinks in pictures not words we interpret words with our left brain, picture brain is the right brain so you can close your eyes and slow down your left brain and just visualize what you want. Put yourself in a movie over and over again.

Dr. Markson says this is not magic it’s the result of mental focus and taking action.

But I have seen people literally, Mike, go from unhappiness to happiness and even financial I’ve seen poor people become rich – just like it could go the other way.
