Interview with Dr. Brain Alman of www.BeautySleepTonight.com

_______________

Mike Carruthers:
One big reason people have trouble falling asleep is that the mind and body are out of sync. Here’s what happens…

Dr. Brain Alman:
When you go to bed at night your body is exhausted but your mind will not shut up, you can’t stop that busy, over-thinking, over-analyzing, doubting, skeptical, “Did I do enough?”- all of that.

That part of your mind that over-thinks, over-worries, that won’t shut up happens to love numbers, loves data, loves counting.

Once you realize that you can quiet that part of your mind down by using numbers in a very simple strategy.

You count your inhales only, from 0 to 100. And then from 100 to 0, if you lose count just guess where you left off but you’re counting your inhales only not out loud - you’ll fall sound asleep. And I’ve literally taught this to 10’s of thousands of people all over the world – including people who’ve had insomnia for 30 years!

Here’s something else that’s interesting about your sleep…

The way you fall asleep is always the way you wake up. Whatever mood you’re in, whatever you’re thinking about at bedtime when you’re falling asleep is the first thing you pick up when you wake up in the morning. So if you go to bed all stressed, you wake up all stressed. And most people have no idea that that’s true but it’s true for every single one of us, every single night.
