Interview with Helen Kim, Founder of www.YourMoneyRelationship.com

_______________

Mike Carruthers:
One of your most interesting relationships is the one you have with money.

Helen Kim:
There are so many different meanings that we attach to money. You ask 3 different people what money means to them and you’re going to get completely different answers.

Helen Kim, Founder of the website www.YourMoneyRelationship.com

What I find is a lot of people get stuck with where they are with their finances is they have not forgiven themselves for their financial trespasses, as I call them.  You know we all have regrets around money. And so I think it’s a really important thing to start forgiving yourself for any of those financial trespasses otherwise you are going to remain in the past and you’re not going to be able to move forward. Forgiveness is a big, big deal.

And Helen says if money is a problem in your life.

The first thing you need to do is #1 be aware. What are you beliefs around money? And where did those beliefs come from? Because what I see a lot of is that people are harboring what I call is an inner terrorist. So you’ve got those voices and you need to get in touch with what you are saying to yourself about money and start turning that around.

The good news is; says Helen that your relationship with money can always change for the better.

It’s no different from a musician for instance. The best musicians, whether you’re Bruce Springstein, YoYo Ma - they still have to practice. And it’s never done it can always be better.
