Mike
Carruthers:
Saving money
without sacrificing; it is possible. And a good place to start?
Mary Hunt:
I say, look at food. This is the food you’re buying at the grocery
store, this is lunches out, this is all the ways that we spend
money on food.
Mary Hunt, author
of the book, Live
Your Life For Half The Price says eating out is the mother
of all budget busters and just cutting back a bit on meals out
will save you a lot of money over the long run. As for grocery
shopping, saving is also easy.
Because I have
found a couple of fabulous websites that help by doing all of
the hard work for me. The first one is called couponmom.com
and then the other site that I really rely on is called thegrocerygame.com.
What they do is they track what’s on sale at every supermarket
in the U.S. and they post it on their websites and you can go
there and find it.They tell you what coupons you’re going to
need, print out a list and off you go to the store.
If you make saving
money on food a priority, Mary says, you’ll be amazed at how
much money you’ll save every year. And you’ll also be amazed
at how good you get at finding out where the food bargains are.
You know where it’s
cheapest to milk in my area? The Shell station mini-mart where
they sell gasoline is the cheapest place in my area to buy milk.
At a $1.99 a gallon, so I don’t buy it at the grocery store.
I have found that you pay nearly half price for it at the mini-mart.
Anybody can come up with these types of strategies.
