Mike
Carruthers:
So
maybe this is the year you go after your big dream, to start a
business, change careers, whatever it is.
John DiPietro:
Plan on people telling you you're crazy, and if no one
is telling you you're crazy then your dream is not big enough.
John DiPietro,
author of the book You
Don't Have To Be Perfect To Be Great!, says when you reach
for a goal, be prepared for problems.
The fact is anybody
who's been anything has had a whole bunch of failures prior
to becoming very successful. The Wright Brothers had four flights:
12 seconds, 15 seconds and 19 seconds, were the first three
flights. Most people would have quit after that, but the fourth
flight was 59 seconds long and that big difference between the
third and the fourth flight allowed them to continue - thinking
that what they had, would in fact work..
How do you know
if your dream is worth the effort?
Trust your gut;
in your heart if you feel that what you're doing is going to
help someone else, continue regardless of how many people think
you're crazy along the way.
And John says,
successful people often visualize their success long before
it happens, in other words…
Begin with the
end in mind as Steven Covey said in one of his books, 7 Habits
of Highly Successful People. Think of yourself already at your
destination and looking back over the hardships that you know
you're going to encounter along the way to becoming successful.
