with Joy Bauer, author of Joy's
LIFE Diet |
Mike Carruthers:
Now
that we're a few weeks into 2009, a lot of people trying to lose
weight as their New Year's resolution are starting to fall off
the wagon.
Joy Bauer:
Losing weight is fifty percent motivation and attitude.

Joy's
LIFE Diet…
You have to know
in your heart that you're going to personally commit with passion
for action. You've got to get your head in the game, you've
got to preplan a little bit but if you have the right attitude
anyone can do this.
People often
fail at losing weight, says Joy, because they use strategies
that have been proven not to work.
What definitely
doesn't work is saving calories by not eating all day long -
it always backfires. You walk in the door and you're ravenous
and you wind up eating the house. Another mistake that dieters
do is they don't identify their personal trigger foods; these
are the foods that once you start eating you just can't stop.
If you keep those
foods out of the house in the first place, you're less likely
to sabotage yourself. And support from other people is key -
especially when you feel like giving up.
When you're in
it with other people it feels so good and so supportive and
it also helps you to wiggle your way out of setbacks. It's easier
to get out of a hole or a funk or one off meal when you have
people rooting you on to do just that.
