Mike Carruthers:
Some
old home remedies have been tested and really seem to work. For
example; for dandruff…
Joe Graedon:
It's a fungal infection and we now know that we can control
fungal infections a couple of different ways - one just by changing
the pH of your scalp.
Joe Graedon,
author of the book Best
Choices from the People's Pharmacy…
So a little vinegar
rinse after you shampoo can be surprisingly effective and an
old-fashioned remedy is Listerine, not the blue minty stuff
but the yellow-colored Listerine - you can rinse with that too,
people tell us it is amazingly effective.
It turns out
that the laxative Milk of Magnesia also works for dandruff but
that's not all…
Put it on your
face at night for acne and dab it under your arms for body odor;
Milk of Magnesia is very affordable and far less likely to cause
skin irritation than some of your anti-perspirants.
And mustard for
a common household burn…
First of all
for any burn, get it under cold water immediately and if it's
a really bad burn of course go to the emergency department,
but for a minor household burn, cold yellow mustard on that
burn instantly can be very effective. Oh and here's another
one for burns - soy sauce; next time you burn yourself in the
kitchen, for a minor household burn get the soy sauce on it
immediately - you'll be surprised at how effective it is at
relieving pain and preventing blistering.
