You
can rent an entire country if you want to.
Marc Abrahams:
Thanks to a man named Karl Schwarzler and to the Nation
of Liechtenstein, it is now possible for anyone who wants to rent
the entire nation of Liechtenstein for parties, or wedding receptions,
whatever, it's possible to do it.
Marc Abrahams,
author of the book The
Man Who Tried To Clone Himself, has collected some of the
most implausible, improbable yet true information. Like the
scientist who actually did the research to see if chickens prefer
attractive human beings.
That was really
three scientists who discovered this - they did some experiments
where they had chickens peck at, in response to seeing pictures
of things. And they discovered that given a choice between beautiful
humans and humans who are not so beautiful, chickens prefer
the beautiful people. And so they published a very detailed
scientific study about that.
And a woman actually
did the research to test the validity of the five-second rule.
This idea that
if you happen to drop a piece of food on the floor, it's ok
to eat it if it's been there less than five seconds - and what
she discovered was, trying to answer the question: Is it safe
to eat food after you've dropped it on the floor? The answer
is, it depends - it depends on whether the food was sticky or
not, it depends on how clean the floor was; it depends on how
clean your hands are.
