Mike
Carruthers:
When you're job hunting it's important to always remember what
employers want…
Tony Beshara:
There are four basic things that people look for when they go
to hire somebody. They say, "Mike can you do my job?"
Number two: " Do I like you?" Number three: "Are
you a risk?" Number four: "Can we work the money out?"
Tony Beshara,
author of the book, The
Job Search Solution says every candidate has to address
those four points and sell themselves on those four points.
In this past
market of the past few years for every opening there's twenty-three
candidates. The best candidate normally doesn't get hired it's
the candidate that sells themselves the best that communicates
what I can do for you. If I sell what I can do for you better
than anybody else, I'm going to get hired.
And the issue
of money, Tony believes people worry way too much about it.
If you do everything
else right the money usually takes care of itself. The mistake
that people most make when it comes to money is that they don't
equate money with the value that they bring to the party. The
more value you establish for you in my organization the more
we're going to be able to work the money out. Money has to be
put in the context of what are you going to do for me today?
And here's a
resume tip…
The average resume
gets read in ten seconds. And if an employer or hiring authority
can't look at a resume and know exactly who you worked for,
what that firm did, and what you did for them- you'll probably
not get interviewed.
