Mike Carruthers:
Ever
get a scratch on a CD or a DVD so that it doesn't play correctly?
Reena Nerbas:
Take a little bit of smooth, not chunky peanut butter and put
it onto a soft cloth and then wipe that onto the CD and remove
all the excess off and then nine times out of ten that will
get rid of the scratch and it plays really, really well again.
Reena Nerbas,
author of the books Household
Solutions #1 and #2, says peanut butter will also get gum
out of hair.
When I was out
one day my husband found that my daughter had gum in her hair
and he cut her hair. When all he really needed to do was put
some peanut butter in and the oil removes the gum in the hair.
Olive oil, says
Reena is a great inexpensive stainless steel cleaner.
Just put some
onto a cloth and wipe your stainless steel along the grain and
then take off all the excess. And the reason why you want to
use olive oil is because it's one type of oil that doesn't actually
attract more dirt and dust. So it seeps into the metal and then
it's gone and it doesn't leave an oily feeling. In the same
way, you would use olive oil to polish your furniture. Wipe
it onto the furniture and then wipe off all of the excess and
it works really, really well.
Of course vinegar
is great for cleaning lots of things but here's a unique idea
that you can store away for the summer.
You can get rid
of your sunburn aches by just taking your shirt, dousing it
in vinegar, wearing your shirt and it will really relieve a
lot of the pain.
