Psychologist Dr. Tim Irwin, author of the book Run With the Bulls…

People have to find jobs, number one, that inspire passion - in other words, it brings out the best in them. Another is that it fits with their interests and abilities; another is that I find people particularly enjoy their work when they can see a direct connection between what they do and how they may be serving others.

And that may only require a simple shift in perspective.

So sometimes I think it's important to say, "Hey do I have the right perspective in what I'm doing?" A person who's processing loan applications may see this as having a lot of drudgery but on the other hand, it may be that that person is helping individuals acquiring their first home. So, it's a very important process in terms of helping young families. I mean, it may not always be perspective but it often is.

Tim's book is the result of a huge amount of research he conducted on what it is that makes people successful.

The three things that I found were: commitment, character and competence - it was the individuals who really possessed those three primary characteristics who were the ones that were highly successful.
