Mike Carruthers:
Past Presidents of the United States are an interesting group.
Stephen J. Spignesi:
Woodrow Wilson used to insist that his eggs be boiled for thirty minutes instead
of three minutes for some reason he felt a half hour egg was the way to go. Steven
Spignesi, author of the book, The
U.S.A. Book Of Lists says Warren Harding was an interesting character. He
was a regular card player and once in a bad hand of poker he lost a complete set
of china that had been in the White House dating back to President Benjamin Harrison's
years. But, a bet is a bet. While
he was president Harry Truman was apparently a creature of habit. He
used to stick to the same routine every morning. He would get up at five; he would
walk two miles around Washington. He would then have a shot of bourbon, a massage,
a light breakfast and then he would head to the oval office and he was at his
desk every morning by 7am and he stuck to that for his entire presidency. Eisenhower,
Dwight D. Eisenhower he was a very skilled chef. His best dishes were cornmeal
pancakes, vegetable soup and charcoal broiled steaks.
And some other interesting presidential facts…
Martin
Van Buren he was the first president born as an American citizen. Everyone else
had been born in England. Zachary Taylor, he was elected in 1849 and he was sixty-four
years old, he had never voted when he was elected president. At
