Skin Care Tips
Interview with Audrey Kunin M.D., author of the book, The Dermadoctor Skinstruction Manual www.dermadoctor.com

Mike Carruthers:
When your lips get chapped you should not use the same product to heal chapped lips as you use to prevent chapped lips.

Audrey Kunin M.D.:
Most people turn to a wax based type of stick. And wax will help prevent lips from drying out but they're not so great at helping heal them.

So you want to look for a more sticky Vaseline-like base to apply to the lips to help heal them.

Dandruff is easily controlled with dandruff shampoo but Dr. Kunin has a way to make that shampoo even more effective.

There are a handful of different ingredients in dandruff shampoos and if you have two or three different bottles, in a very relaxed manner pick one, one day, pick another one a different day you're going to get better control of your dandruff.

When you're out in the sun the general recommendation is to reapply your sunscreen every two hours. And what's the magic SPF number?

I think it's 30. There has been quite a bit of scientific research to show that there is a significant difference in protective value between SPF 15 and an SPF 30. Anything over 30 is so negligible in its ability to further protect the skin.
