8 Traits Of All Creative People
Interview
with Andrew N. Williams, author of How
Do You Compare
Mike
Carruthers:
When you boil it all down, all creative people have 8 traits.
Andrew
N. Williams:
Firstly, they take risks, they stick their neck out, and they
explore, they have this daring to be different.

Do You Compare...
They
are also willing to stand-alone; you know in expressing new
ideas is risky from a psychological standpoint. And you have
to be willing to sort of stand out from the crowd. Creative
individuals also acquire knowledge, although occasionally creativity
comes out of ignorance. Those people who are truly creative
are brilliant at acquiring knowledge about the individual aspects,
you know, be it writing or painting or an inventor, that type
of thing.
Creative
people take a very analytical approach to their work, and they
always love what they do, because you can't be creative if you
don't.
Creativity
also requires dreaming. Quite often you hear creative people
say, "well it just popped into my head," or "I
was just jogging when these ideas came to me." Creative
people know that they need to open up their minds a little bit
and let the process happen.
And creativity,
not only means coming up with good ideas, but also implementing
them.
You know
you hear about people saying well I could have invented that,
or I could have done that, you know, sitting in their armchair.
What the truly creative have the ideas and are able to implement
them. It's a misconception that the creative are only dreamers,
they actually make things happen.
