Mike
Carruthers:
If
you want to keep your skin looking healthy…
Dr. Leslie
Baumann, M.D.:
One general guideline is sunscreen everyday no matter
what even if your going to be indoors- because ultra violet
A the light that gives you skin cancer and causes wrinkles goes
through glass, most people don't realize that.
Dermatologist,
Dr. Leslie Baumann, author of the book, The
Skin Type Solution…
For everyday
use you need an SPF of 15 if you're going to be out longer than
30 minutes you should use a higher SPF.
The worst type
of skin cancer is melanoma, it can show up anywhere even on
skin not exposed to the sun.
The skin types
who are most likely to get melanoma are the really light freckled
redheads because they actually have a gene that gives them the
red hair and the freckles and melanoma.
You should see
a dermatologist if you see anything on your skin that looks
suspicious, but what does melanoma look like?
Some signs of
melanoma, we call it the ABC's. A it's asymmetrical so it's
not perfectly round the one side doesn't match the other. B
is the borders, you can't really tell where it stops and starts.
C is the color if it's really black or it has strange colors
like reds and blues. And D is the diameter if it's bigger than
your pinky finger. Those are bad signs and you should go today
to your dermatologist if you have those signs.
