Mike
Carruthers:
You
will fail more than you succeed but no one ever teaches you how
to fail.
John L. Herman:
People can't believe that they're not going to win.
If you go through any college course or any Masters program, there's
not one class that teaches you "What do you do when you fail?"
John L. Herman,
author of the book The
Innkeeper Tales…
All the organizations
and courses and classes and books that are out there focus on
do these so many steps and you'll win. Well, that's not always
the case - in fact most of the time that's not the case.
Learning how
to fail is just as important, if not more important, than learning
how to succeed.
I have one issue
that I really am bugged about and that is my grandsons play
soccer but they don't keep score. Well how's that kid going
to learn that you don't win every time you try something? Trying
not to hurt little Johnny's feelings because he doesn't want
to lose, ten to one is not teaching him what's going to happen
later in life.
And that is that
you will fail, it's ok to fail, in fact it's necessary that
you fail in order to succeed.
You have to stay
on in a positive frame of mind to overcome failure better than
the people who stand around and wallow in it and say, "Why
me, oh my why me?" Well, failure happens to all of us and
success only happens to a few - why is that? Because the few
who really succeed are willing to eat the failures and keep
going until they get to the success.
