Mike Carruthers:
Bugs, this is their season to thrive and if you want to keep
the bugs out of your house without chemicals here's some help.
First of all, ants…
Myles
Bader:
All you have to do is wash your counters down with white vinegar
and water and a mild solution will do it and you'll never have
an ant on your counter. Then put bay leaves in all the draws
in your kitchen, your cookie jar, your flour container that'll
keep them out of there.
Myles
Bader, author of the book,
Club The Bugs & Scare The Critters says if you want
to keep flies and mosquitoes out of your house…
Use the
herb basil. Take some basil put it in a porous bag, any type
of cloth bag, hang a couple bags around the house, you'll never
see a flying insect.
For mice,
gophers or any kind of rodent…
Get some
oil of peppermint from a health food store, put a few drops
on a cotton ball place it anywhere you're having a rodent problem,
you'll never see that rodent again. They're allergic to peppermint.
You can use that for squirrels and chipmunks to keep them away
from the bird feeder. Put oil of peppermint in a spray bottle
and spray the area you want to keep them away.
And if
you want to keep bees and wasps away when you're outside…
Take
a 2-liter bottle of soda with just 2 inches of soda approximately,
they like real soda, you put diet in there and they're going
to bite you, they want real soda. The wasps and bees will go
into the bottle after the sweet soda and they're not smart enough
to get out.
