Mike
Carruthers:
Want
to clean your house in a lot less time?
Jeff Bredenberg:
You could clean ninety-five percent of your house using
disposable products - I love disposable wipes, disposable glass
wipes; you can get disposable bathroom cleaning wipes.
Jeff Bredenberg,
author of the book How
to Cheat at Cleaning…
They allow you
to dispense with cleaning cloths because the wipe is the cloth,
you don't have to measure your cleaning liquid and you can just
throw it in the trashcan when you're done.
Now some might
say that using disposable products is not environmentally friendly.
I understand
that, but people who have looked at this scientifically say
that there's really - from an ecological standpoint -there's
not much of an advantage one way or the other.
And Jeff says
you might want to adjust your thinking about how you do laundry.
We over-wash
our clothes; most clothes only need to be freshened up a little
bit unless you've been on your knees digging in the garden.
So, look at what the recommended amount of detergent to use
is and cut that in half. And also put your washer on the lightest
shortest setting, you will end up using less energy, less detergent.
If for some reason that didn't quite do the job, then gradually
up the amount of detergent or the amount of wash time.
Tomorrow, some
of the dirtiest spots in your house that you may be ignoring
- I'm Mike Carruthers and that's Something You Should Know.
