Mike
Carruthers:
What
do you do if you cut yourself and you don't have a band aid handy?
Joe Graedon:
We heard several years ago that, that black pepper can
stop a cut from bleeding.
Pharmocologist,
Joe Graedon, author of the book, People's
Pharmacy Guide To Home & Herbal Remedies…
It seemed almost
impossible; I mean how could that work? And yet when we cut
ourselves we tried it, and indeed within seconds, the bleeding
usually stopped and it doesn't hurt and it doesn't sting.
If you think
that's weird how about this remedy for a nosebleed…
The most astonishing
home remedy that we've ever heard was to put a big ring of keys
-you know like your car keys, your house keys and whatever other
keys you've got on that counter - and put it down your back.
I mean, literally underneath your shirt and let it fall down,
I can not tell you how it works, all I can say is that we've
heard from dozens of people that this is a remedy that is astonishingly
effective for nosebleeds. And I have to admit, I've tried it,
and it works.
And for a mosquito
bite that itches…
All you have
to do is go to the kitchen sink, turn the faucet on so that
the water is hot, not so hot that it will burn but about a 2-3
second exposure to really hot water - it seems to deaden the
nerve endings and will provide itch relief for several hours.
