House Cleaning Tips
Interview
with Deniece Schofield author of Confessions
Of An Organized Homemaker
Mike
Carruthers:
Unless you really enjoy spending a lot of time cleaning your home,
you could probably use some tips to make cleaning easier and more
effective.
Deneice
Schofield:
For example, a bathroom bowl brush that's never been used
for its intended purpose is wonderful for cleaning carpet edges
as you're vacuuming along, for brushing off the furniture where
the kids have been eating, underneath the couch cushions.

You can
use a wrist sweatband when you're washing any vertical surface
like a wall or a window or the inside of the shower, because
it stops all the drips at your wrist instead letting them go
all the way down your arm to your elbow, getting your clothes
wet. Ponytail holders are just pieces of coated elastic with
plastic balls on the end, and they're great for organizing cords,
extension cords, and cords that go into appliances and power
tools, and things like that that can get knotted up and in disarray.
You can just keep them organized with ponytail holders.
There are
several other things designed for other uses that are excellent
for cleaning around the house.
Disposable
sponge paintbrushes that you can get at any discount store or
hardware store are good for cleaning louvered doors or shutters.
They're also good for cleaning all the little vents and things
on the inside of the dashboard of the car. They're good for
washing around the lid of the washing machine. Coffee filters
are good for washing windows, for washing mirrors, for washing
anything glass. They don't leave a spec of lint. You can let
them dry and use them over again.
