Mike Carruthers:
Everyone's had this experience: you get a stain in your carpet,
you clean it, you think it's gone but like magic the stain comes
back in a day or two.

And what's happened is that the cleaning solution and the soil
has stayed in the bottom of the carpet and wicked it's way up
to the top, dried on top and there it is again.

Housekeeping's Complete Household Handbook…
So, what
you want to do is before you finish with the stain is, once
you think you've got as much out as you can, pile on a stack
of paper towels, weigh it down with a heavy vase or a pot leave
it there overnight. As the carpet dries any residue will wick
up through the carpet fibers, get trapped in the paper towel
and then you can throw that away.
Carolyn
has another great hint to file away for the next time you are
baking.
Different
types of bake ware work best at different temperatures. So if
you are using a glass baking dish it's a good idea to lower
the oven temperature by about 25 degrees because glass retains
the heat longer than metal and it will keep your foods cooking
and baking a little bit longer. So if you want to prevent burning
and sticking reduce that down by 25 degrees.
And the
knives in your kitchen with the wooden handles probably need
more love and care than you are giving them.
And the
important thing is never to soak them. So while it's tempting
to just toss it in the sink, it's not a good idea to do that.
You want to hand wash knives only, dry them quickly don't let
them click against each other because that will damage the blade.
