That's a fair question and I have to say the answer we give is; now is always the best time.

Rich Sloan is co-author of the book, StartupNation with his brother Jeff. They've been entrepreneurs for a long time and their business is helping other entrepreneurs.

We have noticed, by the way, certain traits in entrepreneurs that make them great entrepreneurs. Number one on the list is passion. You have got to be really passionate about what you're doing. And number two, related to that is you also have to be able to be relatively sober. So you can't become intoxicated by your passion and your emotion.You have to really be able to make sound decisions and do good planning.

And what kind of business should you start? Well, in order to answer that question Rich says…

Do your life planning before you do your business planning. So, you have to decide what it is that really gets you up in the morning, something that you're really passionate about and something that gives you gratification or fulfillment. Generally speaking if you do something that you love doing, the tendency will be for you to work harder and work better. So, we always encourage people to pursue things that they are personally passionate about.
