What
Are You Passionate About?
Interview
with Dr. Tel Franklin author of the book,Expect
A Miracle
Mike Carruthers:
Being passionate about something may be just as important to your
health as anything else.
Tel Franklin:
Understanding what your passions are and celebrating
those everyday are just as important as taking your medication.
I mean it's not about just health it's really about celebrating
your life.
Family doctor
Tel Franklin author of the book Expect
A Miracle says everyone needs and everyone has a passion.
For myself
it's running but everyone's got something. Some people it's
knitting, some people it's listening to Mozart, other people
it's going to an art museum. I have a guy who hates walking
and hates going to the gym but he loves playing tennis. So we
got him into a local health club, he plays tennis and now he
takes his kids, his whole family plays tennis. And so when you're
really focused in on healthy lifestyle then you're more apt
to eating better, have healthier relationships and feeling better.
Everyone
has or has had a passion and it's important if you don't have
one to rekindle that passion in your life.
You know
Abraham Maslow said it best when he said "You know you
are what you think about all day long." Well we're always
caught up in our diabetes and our low back pain and our fibromyalsia
and our depression. That's just a continuous cycle going down
hill. So how do we change that and make that cycle go in the
other direction? I think that's celebrating the uniqueness that
makes us that individual that gives us real passion in life.
