Mike
Carruthers:
If
you let it, your job could be killing you.
Steve Morris:
This has been shown by the American Medical Association,
by the way - that unhappiness at work is a cause for heart disease.
And unhappiness at work - the principal determinate of that
is your relationship with your direct superior.
Steve Morris,
author of the book Glorious
Leadership, says working in a stressful environment can
take a huge toll on your health over time - so the best advice
is…
Do something
you enjoy - you work at something you enjoy. If it's naturally
satisfying to you, you're going to get positive hormonal physiological
changes from doing something you love - so chose a job you enjoy.
Second, chose a boss that appreciates you and work with a company
that appreciates you and what you do.
But if you can't
choose those things - and most of us can't…
Then you need
to be the one who gives yourself appreciation. The simple way
that I've taught people to do that is just think of what's good
in what you do- or why you do what you do - or who are you doing
it for - and feel good about what you do. And that will physiologically
combat those negative forces and start producing healing hormones
within the body that have anti-aging - sort of put our system
in a relaxed healing state. It can all be done just by feeling
good about yourself; gratitude, appreciation and acceptance.
