Mike
Carruthers:
This
may be one of the best times to start your own business - particularly
an Internet business.
Scott Fox:
There's an opportunity here for anyone who has an entrepreneurial
interest. The risks are lower than ever before, the opportunities
are greater and yet all anybody does is cry about how the Internet
is over and it's really not true.
Scott Fox, author
of the book Internet
Riches, says starting an Internet business can cost as little
as twenty-five dollars to get it up and running - so it really
can't hurt to give your idea a try.
You want to pick
a niche and preferably something that really interests you -
don't try to force yourself into building a business on something
you don't care about. And if you can find something that you're
good at and you're passionate about, it'll be easier for you
to persevere and build the business.
Because you can
make money in a very narrowly focused niche, Scott says you'd
be amazed at what can be profitable.
My wife's business
for example: my wife loves to knit and crochet and she put up
a website, it's called sweaterbabe.com. She writes patterns
for knitting and crocheting - for scarves and blankets and things
like that and she's built up a pretty good business there and
she actually just wrote her first book. "Fark", "f",
"a", "r", "k" .com is a very popular
website built by a young man named Drew and Drew started sending
out emails of funny websites to his friends. He got so many
friends forwarding those around, he decided to set up a website,-
now Fark is one of the top traffic sites in its category. He's
making well into the six figures a year and all the site does
is collect funny links for people who are bored at work.
