The
Hard Part About Being Happy
Interview
with Greg Hicks author of the book,How
We Choose To Be Happy
Mike
Carruthers:
How do you find the happiest people on earth? Well, two
guys went out on a three year journey to do just that.
Greg
Hicks :
Our favorite way to find these people was to pull
of the interstates and head into small towns. Simply ask the
locals, "Hey, who's the most profoundly happy person in
these parts?"
Greg Hicks
co-author of the book How
We Choose To Be Happy....
And typically
they'd caucus and a name. We would call that person up and invite
ourselves over. And so we sat in about three hundred living
rooms around the world and listened to their wisdom.
And one
of the most interesting things they've found is that happy people
make a real effort toward being happy.
All of
the people that we interviewed said that when they get up in
the morning they set their intentions for the day. They plant
that seed in their head that they're going to look for all that
joy they can find in the day. They're going to approach life
with appreciation and with a sense of contentment.
And another
interesting key to happy people being so happy is......
They
refuse to blame other people for circumstances. Even when other
people and circumstances do them wrong. That their belief is
that when they blame they're only stuck in resentment, it doesn't
allow them to move forward. And that their approach is always
ok, this happened to me, now what can I do to make my life better,
what can I do?
Tomorrow
the amazing benefits of being happy, I'm Mike Carruthers and
that's Something You Should Know.
