Secrets To A Long & Healthy Life
Interview
with Dr. Gary Small, author of The
Longevity Bible
|
Mike
Carruthers:
Even
if you come from a family of long livers doesn't necessarily mean
you'll live a long time if you don't take care of yourself.
Dr. Gary Small:
Our research at UCLA and studies around the world have
been providing the scientific evidence - it tells us that genetics
only accounts for a third of what contributes to our health
as we age.
Dr. Gary Small,
author of the book The
Longevity Bible…
That means that
simple everyday lifestyle strategies have a major impact on
how long and how well we live.
Staying socially
connected, says Dr. Small, is critical.
Building healthy
relationships will help you live longer and better. It not only
brings us closer together but it can lower our risk for heart
attacks, lower blood pressure, diminish pain, help us sleep
better and even boost the immune system so we're less likely
to get infections.
Interestingly,
clutter can impact our health and longevity because of the stress
it can cause.
If you walk into
a cluttered room, and we've all experienced that - it distracts
us, it makes us edgy. Taking a few moments to pick out an area
of that room, an area of your office and de-cluttering that
area will go a long way to reducing stress, improving organizational
skills and empowering us to live healthier lives.
Tomorrow how
your attitude affects how long you live - I'm Mike Carruthers
and that's Something You Should Know.
