Mike
Carruthers:
Just a few small changes in how you manage your time can
result in big benefits.
Brian
Tracey :
A very small change is to plan everyday in advance
and then to work your plan. That will save you twenty five percent
of your time or two hours of working time the first day you
use it.
Brian Tracey
author of the book Time
Power
So you
can literally give yourself a twenty five percent boost in efficiency
effectiveness and productivity by the simple act of planning
your day better. You get about ten minutes back in saved time
for every minute you invest in pre-planning .
Another
great technique in planning your day is to take a look at the
list of things you have to do.
Then
you say, "If I could only do one thing on this list, what
one thing would be the most important?" And then you start
with that first thing, do only that until it's done. And that
will increase your productivity by another twenty five percent.
The number one reason for low productivity is people work on
low value tasks.
When you
have a big task ahead of you, you certainly heard the advise
that the best thing to do is to break it down into small pieces
and Brian says, that really does work.
There's
a momentum principle in success that once you get into the momentum,
once you start working, sometimes you get into a roll and you'll
do the next piece and then next piece and the next piece. The
Great Wall of China was built one stone at a time. The pyramids
of Giza were built a stone at a time. A great life is built
one task at a time.
Tomorrow
more great ways to better manage your time. I'm Mike Carruthers
and that's Something You Should Know.
