Get
Physical
Interview
with Richard Brown author of the book, The
10 Minute Leap
Mike
Carruthers:
You know that physical activity is important to your health
but still many of us don't do it because we either don't know
exactly what to do or how much or if what we're doing is doing
any good.
Richard
Brown:
The thing is, is just get off your butt and do something
and it doesn't have to be hard and it doesn't have to be long.
Dr. Richard
Brown author of the book The
10 Minute Leap.
There
was a runner who was a world record holder and he was from Australia
and they said, " What is the hardest thing that you have
to do in training?" He said, "Put on these shorts
and get out the door." And if we could put on our shorts
and just get out the door: five minutes, ten minutes just take
that action it will grown and it will build.
Too often
people say, "Ok, starting tomorrow I'm going to exercise
an hour a day, five days a week."
Prescription
for failure. You have to do what is right for you. You have
to take a long-term approach. Don't think of well how much have
I lost for this week, think about if I can do this consistently
over a period of time, what will I be like next year?
If we would
just start to exercise and better yet have someone to exercise
with it will soon become a part of your life.
To make
an action a habit you're going to relapse on the average seven
times. If you failed once or twice don't berate yourself about
it. Once you do physical activity on a consistent basic your
body sort of craves it.
