Managing
A Peaceful Household
Interview
with Kathy Peel author of the book, The
Family Manager Saves The Day
Mike
Carruthers:
If you want to have a more peaceful household…
Kathy
Peel:
Every family needs to come up with their own definition
of what is clean and what is organized.
Kathy Peel
author of the book The
Family Manager Saves The Day…
So it's
a good idea to sit down as a family or husband and wife and
talk about, "Ok, what makes home a good place to be for
you?" And everybody should get a say, because if you want
to build a family team everybody should get a say in what makes
home a good place to be.
Most families
never take the time to sit down and discuss these things and
that causes friction and resentment.
And there
are people in divorce court today who have just let little things
like this build up, and there are bigger issues in life we need
to save our emotional energy for rather than who's turn it is
to take out the garbage or what does a clean family room look
like.
And Kathy
says if there is one simple thing that will make family life
so much more peaceful it's…
Coming
up with a way to, actually with a list, of who's responsible
for what. And you'd be surprised once you decide who's going
to do certain things, like cook dinner or who's going to be
in charge of bathing the kids, you'll save so much stress and
so much emotional energy by just knowing who's suppose to do
what.
