Truth & Myths About Dieting II
Interview
with Television Health Expert, Dr. Art Ulene
|
Mike
Carruthers:
Weight
loss is probably best looked at as a long-term project.
Dr. Art Ulene:
I keep telling people: stop trying to do it all at once.
Stop trying to do it quickly - make very, very small changes
and the weight loss will be stunning.
Television health
expert, Dr. Art Ulene…
It also we know
now, that it doesn't have to be punishing that small changes...
very small changes... maintained consistently over long periods
of time can produce profound weight loss effects.
For example says
Dr. Ulene…
If a young child
did nothing but change from three glasses of whole milk per
day to three glasses of skim - no other change, no additional
exercise, no other food changes- that simple change will save
twenty-two pounds of fat in a year.
So making and
sticking with small changes will, in the long run, make a bigger
weight loss difference than trying the latest fad diet.
Don't walk twenty
miles today - walk one mile each day this week. Don't give up
dairy foods - switch from whole fat to non-fat. Don't give up
all the foods you love - just control the portion size.
