Mike
Carruthers:
Quit smoking, lose weight, make more money...whatever your
goal, one way to dramatically increase your chances of success
is to have one or more partners.
Sarano Kelley:
How many of us have a difficult time holding ourselves accountable
when we're on a diet? Or, what if you and I both want to go running.
You know if you try to do it alone, you may or may not go. But
if you tell me that you're going to meet me, odds are really good
that you'll show up.
Personal Coach
Sarano Kelley, author of the book The
Game.
You know the
most successful behavior modification programs are usually community-based.
They're the kinds of programs where you can go and with a group
of people work on a given issue - and those have always been
phenomenal programs for correcting problems.
Sarano believes
that trying to achieve an important goal all by yourself is
setting yourself up for failure.
You know, you and I could take any subject and it could be
basket-weaving or any subject, and if you and I spoke every
single day for ten minutes about what we were learning about
basket-weaving and how to advance it - over the course of ninety
days it doesn't matter what it is…it could be cooking, it could
be learning a language, it could be learning dance…all of that
can be done. What I highly recommend is that people not try
and do it by themselves and get stuck. I think having a partner
is one of the single most important things. All your energy
gets to go to execution as opposed to considerations and worry.
