Positive Energy
Interview
with Judith Orloff, M.D. author of the book, Positive
Energy
Mike
Carruthers:
There seem to be a lot of people who are just exhausted
all of the time, why?
Judith
Orloff :
I think people are walking around exhausted because
we live in a maniacal society that tells us to push and push
until we drop. And work holism is really exalted as an asset
where it's killing people.
Judith Orloff,
M.D. author of the book
Positive Energy says you don't have to change your busy
life so much as you have to minimize the stress a busy life
can cause.
Well
it's so important to learn how to come back to the now and to
just take a few deep breaths and tell yourself this too will
pass. And to begin to focus on something positive and so ok
I'm becoming overwhelmed with negativity. Take a few deep breaths
focus on something beautiful or positive but it's about shifting
negative thoughts to positive ones.
It sounds
so simple but Judith says it's amazingly effective.
Sometimes
when the negative thoughts come in like: I'm not good enough,
I'm not pretty enough, I'll never succeed, I'll never get a
boyfriend. You just take a breath and you focus on something
positive such as: I'm incredible and today is a beautiful day
and I'm going to make the most of it today. To begin to shift,
it's a very powerful thing to be able to shift negative thoughts
to positive.
And there's
a side benefit when you're more positive.
We give
off a kind of radar where we attract what we give off. And if
we're exuding positive energy and we're exuding life we're going
to be attracting that back.
