Mike Carruthers:
Do you have a digital camera yet?
Scott
Kelby:
You take the same person, give them a digital camera
or a film camera and guaranteed they will take better photographs
with a digital camera.
Digital
photography and technology expert, Scott Kelby says primarily
because with digital, you can take lots and lots of pictures.
You can
shoot 200, 300 shots dump them on your computer turn around
and shoot another 200 or 300. And sometimes in the morning I'll
get up and I'll shoot 300 shots before breakfast. I would never
do that with film. Because you know every time you push the
camera, it's like opps, that cost me money, opps the shutter
that just cost me money, not with digital.
Interestingly
when people start shooting digital pictures they often still
think in terms of film and they're hesitant to shoot a lot of
photos.
A buddy
of mine, he's a world famous nature photographer and his name
is Vincent Versace. And Vincent always says shoot with wild
abandon. Because when you get back to your hotel room and you
want to look at your photos on your computer. Do you want to
find the best photo out of 30 or the best photo out of 300.
But people do, they're used to shooting film and so their hesitant
to really shoot with that wild abandon. But once you get over
that, that's when it ignites your passion for photography.
And one
quick thing that will make you a better photographer…
Is the
tripod and I know it sounds like a silly thing. One of the best
tripods I ever had was only $19. I bought it at Wal-Mart. So
people kind of dismiss it, "Oh it's no big deal."
It absolutely is one of the biggest mistakes. Most people loose
great shots to not holding the camera still.
Tomorrow,
more tips for taking better pictures. I'm Mike Carruthers and
that's Something You Should Know.
