Importance Of Making Small Changes
II
Interview
with Larry Terkel author of the book,
Small Change
Mike
Carruthers:
Turning off the TV at dinner time, replacing one unhealthy
snack a week with a healthy one these are small changes that
anyone can make but…
Larry
Terkel:
It really has an interesting impact that you begin
to see it accumulate you feel every time you make the change
that you've done something good for yourself.
Larry Terkel
author of the book Small
Change…
And it
makes the next change that much easier; it puts you in the habit
of changing just a little step at a time.
And you
can make these small changes in all areas of your life.
If you
look at your relationships for example one of the changes that
my wife and I have made if what we call the standing date. We
have dinner at lease once a week alone without children without
friends it's an hour and a half of face to face conversation
that is the equivalent of a weeks vacation.
Even small
changes in your finances can bring big benefits.
For example
in a credit card instead of paying the minimum payment, which
would take thirty some years to pay off that credit card, if
you would just double the minimum payment you would pay it off
in three and a half years, instead of thirty and save a heck
of a lot of interest at the same time. If we take something
like breathing we take breathing for granite, if we would just
catch our breath a few times each day. If we would take some
deep breaths at a red light you would feel that much better.
