When men and women fight, men can sometime say things they should really never say.

Kate Dailey:
The first thing you should never say to a women when you're having a fight is, "RELAX." Women hate to hear that because it feels like you are just writing them off. And that you're saying their anger isn't justified.

And it makes sense. In a fight, when a woman is getting really upset, you think you're doing a favor, you're saying, "hey relax, calm down, we'll handle this." What she hears when you say relax is, "hey relax, you're getting crazy over nothing, isn't that just like a woman." And that drives women nuts.

And during a fight, Kate says a man should never say, "I love you."

Which is really counter-intuitive. Because women wait their whole lives for a man to tell them that they love them. And if you watch movies and you watch TV, it seems like that's all women are after. But when you're having a fight and you say, "I love you" it seems like a cop out. It seems like you are trying to skirt the issue because it usually comes during a time when a woman is trying to get a straight answer from you. "Why did you stay out so late? Why did I see you with that woman? Why did you compare me to my mother?" And you'll just say, "but honey, I love you" And that's really not the point. So what you want to do instead is really tell her why you did what you did and answer her question.
