Mike
Carruthers:
Picking stocks - it's not for everyone but it can be fun and profitable.
How do you do it?
Hilary Kramer:
By watching the trends around you - really read the news and
figure out what it's telling you about trends.

is Money & Finance Editor for AOL and author of the book,
Ahead
of the Curve…
You know one
of my favorite companies is Metalico - MEA is the ticker symbol,
and they make the lead that goes into the lead capes that they
put on you when you have an x-ray. They make the lead that goes
into the steel drums when nuclear waste is disposed. This is
by reading and by living and by seeing - what are we using around
us?
Another of Hilary's
favorite companies is Baidu - the symbol is BIDU…
Now this is one
I recommend that people buy and really look at. And the target
on it is $330 - $350 by some of the smarter analysts on Wall
Street. Google will need to take over Baidu because Baidu is
the Google of China - or Baidu's just going to keep going up.
You can also
find stocks to buy by listening to what successful investors
are saying.
One of my favorite
companies is Covanta, CVA. Sam Zell, the great billionaire of
real estate - just heard him give a speech and he said, "My
attention is now on waste to energy." Covanta is a garbage
company - basically waste to energy. That's about listening
and watching some of the leaders in the market.
