October 18, 2004 How Anyone Can Be Wealthy
Interview
with Brian Tracy author of the book, Getting
Rich Your Own Way Mike
Carruthers: It's almost never too late to start building real wealth. Brian
Tracy: Here's
the good news, the research is exhausted but it turns out that most people are
broke pretty much after the age of forty-five. The average American today at the
age of forty has a net worth of $1,010.00. Brian
Tracy author of the new book, Getting
Rich Your Own Way… Only
one third of baby boomers who are now in there fifties do not have a single penny
saved up for retirement. So most people start to make most of the money in their
life after the age of forty-five. That's when people start to get serious about
the long term. Now here's the flip side the long term in America today is about
seventy-five, sixty-five was set as a retirement age in 1870 in Germany it has
no relationship to the level of health and energy that people have today. So when
you're at sixty-five you're actually at the top of your game. So if a person is
fifty and has no money here's the bottom line you've still got twenty-five years. So
what's the first step to getting rich? The
great rule for success is always spend less than you earn and save or invest the
difference. And if you spend less than you earn and discipline yourself to do
that somehow opportunities open up for you. To buy a home fix it up, rent it out
to invest in a small business that you could manage yourself in the evenings and
weekends and so on. The very act of saving money changes your mentality toward
making money. Tomorrow
if getting rich is so easy why isn't everybody rich? I'm Mike Carruthers and that's
Something You Should Know.
