of
Soul Currency

Mike
Carruthers:
Self-criticism - it's something that can really get in the way
of your success and happiness.
Ernest Chu:
The stories that we tell about ourselves whereas if somebody
else told them about us, we would be very incensed. But we in
fact tell those stories about ourselves - that we're not good
enough, that we have to struggle, that life is hard.
Ernest Chu, former
investment banker and now coach and author of the book Soul
Currency, says so often we are our own worst critic.
There's a tendency
to remember everything that you've done wrong and you won't
think of all the hundreds of thousands of times that you've
done things right. And those are the things that in effect confirm
that really you are enough.
Ernest says,
try focusing on the things you do well, not the things you do
wrong and actually write them down - also…
At the beginning
of the day and at the end of the day be thankful for what you
already have. And you know it sends the universe a really interesting
message; it doesn't say, "Send me more worry". It
says, "Send me more things to be grateful about."
It may sound
a little bit mystical and magical but Ernest says once you start
to focus your mind this way, it's amazing what can happen.
I used to say,
"Well, I need the phone to ring because I need more clients."
So I now say, "I'm affirming that the phone is going to
ring". I put that into my prayers and I put that into everything
that I'm doing and "You know what happens?", the next
day, the next day after that and the next day after that I would
start getting calls.
