Chances are you or someone you know has sinus trouble.
Ralph Metson
M.D.:
Estimates are that sinusitis affects upwards of thirty million
individuals. It's one of the most common diagnoses made in a
doctor's office or clinic.
Dr. Ralph Metson,
author of the book
Harvard Medical School Guide to Healing Your Sinuses…
The classic symptoms
of sinusitis are three. First is facial pain or headache second
is obstruction or difficulty breathing through the nose, and
the third is nasal drainage referred to as postnasal drip.
Chronic sinus
problems should be looked at by a doctor, however…
The best home
remedy to treat sinusitis is salt-water irrigations. Just taking
a simple bulb syringe that you would use to clean an infant's
nose and taking a glass of warm water putting a teaspoon of
salt and fill up the bulb syringe lean over the sink and squirt
some of that salt water in the nose. It will run right out of
the same nostril and carry with it bacteria and allergy particles
that could be causing inflammation and blockage in the nose
and leading to that troublesome postnasal drip.
Cases of sinusitis
are on the rise and Dr. Metson says a lot of people just reach
for over the counter nasal sprays to help.
The problem is
if you spray for too many days in a row you get what's called
a rebound effect. And with that rebound phenomenon the nose
swells up worse than it ever was once the medication wears off
and it can make your symptom actually worse rather than better.
