Mike
Carruthers:
If you want to keep your house clean you should be aware of how
the dirt gets in there in the first place.
Jaimee Zanginger:
A lot of it comes in through your shoes in your home. I think
it's eighty percent of the dirt is the dry tracked in kind.
So, it's great to have a mat at your front door where you can
wipe off your feet or just leave your shoes outside.
Jaimee Zanginger,
one of the editors of Real Simple Magazine and contributor to
the book Real
Simple Cleaning, has some great ways to help with the inevitable
task of keeping your house clean.
We found out
that you can really use dish washing liquid and micro fiber
cloths on almost anything. And dishwashing liquid which is so
inexpensive and it's safe for the environment - it just does
wonders and it does more than a lot of those specialized cleaning
products you can buy at the store.
If you want to
clean your microwave oven…
If you just put
a coffee cup filled with water and a couple of lemon slices
into your microwave, zap it on high for three minutes - the
steam actually softens any spills inside of the microwave and
then you can just wipe them out and you're done. So there's
no scrubbing.
And when was
the last time you cleaned your TV remote?
It's amazing
how much use it gets, especially when people have colds and
it really can build up a lot of germs. So you can use a simple
disinfectant wipe and wipe it down and you can also use a cotton
swab dipped in rubbing alcohol and just run it around the buttons.
