Simple Cures From Your Kitchen
Interview
with Joey Green, author of Joey
Green's Amazing Kitchen Cures
Mike
Carruthers:
Did you know that Colgate toothpaste can soothe a burn?
Joey
Green:
You're cooking in the kitchen, you get a first-degree burn,
you just squeeze a dollop of the Colgate toothpaste on the skin
immediately, and you let it dry and it prevents blistering,
speeds up the healing, and it's the glycerin in the toothpaste
that reduces the burning discomfort.
Joey Green,
author of the book Joey's
Green Amazing Kitchen Cures.
If don't
have any Colgate toothpaste, you can use French's mustard. This
is actually used by short-order cooks in diners and restaurants.
They squeeze the mustard on, rub it in, and again, it relieves
the burning pain.
Got a muscle
ache? Reach for the Uncle Ben's rice.
Take
a clean sock, ideally, fill it with rice, tie a knot in it,
and pop it in the microwave for a minute or two, heat it up
and put it on the back of your neck. It's a nice warm heating
pad.
Listerine
mouthwash is actually good for dandruff.
Not drinking
it. You just take a capful of Listerine, or two capfuls, wash
your hair with the Listerine, working it into the scalp. In
fact, it used to be advertised on the back of the bottle that
Listerine cures dandruff. If you get a ring stuck on your finger,
how do you get a ring off your finger? Well, usually what happens
is the finger gets all swollen, you can't get the ring off.
Use Preparation H. You just squeeze some on your finger, rub
it in. Preparation H relieves the swelling and it also lubricates
the finger so that the ring will come sliding off.
