Mike
Carruthers:
You can tell if any denomination of bill is counterfeit very
easily.
Cy Tymony:
Just fold the dollar bill in half so it sits on the table-part
of it sits flat and part of it sits straight up like an "L"
and if you bring a strong magnet to the edge of the bill, the
bill will be attracted to the magnet because there's iron in
the ink of real currency.
Cy Tymony, author
of the book,
Sneakier Uses For Everyday Things says you can make your
own moldable plastic using milk.
Milk has casein
in it and you can bring milk up to a simmer, add a little vinegar
to it and you'll see clumps rise to the top. Pour that through
a strainer and you can mold it just like clay and after a few
days it'll dry up and it'll be plastic.
You can demonstrate
how air currents start a hurricane or tornado.
Just take a piece
of paper, 3 inch by 3 inch, a 3 inch square piece of paper,
fold it diagonally and unfold it and then fold it diagonally
the other way and it'll have a little point right in the center.
And just balance that on the head of a pin. Once it's balanced
and it sits there like a little hat all you have to do is rub
your hands together and bring your hands very, very close to
the paper and you'll-all of a sudden, you'll see the paper start
spinning- because the warm air around your hands causes the
air to move-so it's a nice demonstration on how hurricanes and
tornadoes get started.
