Carruthers:
It's
pretty well understood that taking vitamin supplements is good
for your health.
David Niven, PhD:
But we kind of imagine, well if some vitamins are good…more
vitamins are better. But it works out that there's only so much
that our body can process. And some folks are mega-dosing on vitamins
- not only isn't it doing their body any good, but it actually
can be a mild threat to them.
David Niven,
author of the book The
100 Simple Secrets Of Healthy People , says there are a
lot of really simple things we can do to improve our health.
Spinach is a
great example of a food that helps your immune system, it helps
your circulatory system, and a lot of folks think, "Ah,
spinach, I don't want to eat any more spinach." You know
a couple of researchers did a study in which they secretly replaced
the lettuce that was being served on sandwiches with spinach,
because spinach is much more healthy for you than lettuce. And
what do you know if folks either didn't notice it, or they actually
liked it even more. And so you know, eating right doesn't mean
that you have to be stuck with things you don't like. There
are changes that you can make that either you won't notice,
or you'll actually enjoy.
And teabags can
improve the air you breathe.
It turns out
that if you spread some un-used teabags around your house, the
teabags will soak up the toxicity in the air, and leave you
with a better quality of oxygen in your home. Now of course,
I must warn you, you don't have any tea after you do this -
you throw the teabags out. But it's the kind of thing that can
help you keep a healthier atmosphere in your home.
