Living in the Moment
Interview
with Julie Clark Robinson author of Live
in the Moment |
Mike Carruthers:
There probably aren’t many people who are almost always
happy, but I found one. Julie
Clark Robinson:
I just really refuse to down if I can possibly help it. I think
it’s an awful feeling. My mother used to tell me, “Julie, take
your rose-colored glasses off,” and I really didn’t want to.
Julie Clark
Robinson author of the book, Live
in the Moment, shares her secrets for staying up when life
starts to get you down.
A rainy
day, I mean, I light a lot of candles on rainy days. I make
a pot of soup, you know, little comfort things that we can do
to cheer ourselves up.
It’s important
to remember, says Julie, that most things that get us down,
in the long run, really don’t matter.
It helps,
I think, to look down the road in your mind. Even, look in the
mirror. Just stop, and find a mirror, and look at your face
in the mirror, and say, "Ten years from now, is this going
to be such a big deal?" And almost always, you can say
no, you know, and then you can get on with your day and realize
this is just a day. It’s a bad day. Tomorrow’s a new one.
If you take
proactive measures to put joyous things in your life, the down
times really won’t seem so down. It’s all about living in the
moment.
Living
in the moment is exactly it. We all want a good life, but the
only way we can have a good life is if we make moments, good
moments, that lead to good days which ultimately lead to a good
life.
